Volcano Shrimp eating algae growing on the glass surface

Hi Everyone,

My name is Hartley and I live in the tropical country of Singapore.

This hobby of breeding Volcano Shrimp (aka Opae ula, Halocaridina rubra) began in August 31, 2004.

I tried to buy the shrimp from David, Fuku-Bonsai Cultural Center & Hawaii State Bonsai Repository, in Hawaii.

Due to export restriction, the sale did not happened.

I looked everywhere for this amazing shrimp but it was not available in my country.

In March 28, 2005, my brother Lee went to the US on a business trip.

I asked him to hand-carry a Fuku-Bonsai Micro-Loster BT-2 Educational Breeder Tank back to Singapore.

You can read the story here.

I made a lot of mistakes and killed many shrimps.

Finally, after four years of trials and errors, I manage to get the shrimp to breed.

Since then, I have captive bred thousands of volcano shrimp in my apartment successfully.

This website is dedicated to those Opae Ula shrimp hobbyists out there !

Happy breeding !

Best Regards,
Hartley
